Denatonium Benzoate-That bitter taste!

It is globally accepted and is require by law to be included in some products as a safe and effective deterrent. Both the National Safety Council and the American Medical Association recommend adding the ingredient as a deterrent in products that may be ingested by children and pets. It is mandatory in antifreeze.

While having a very foul taste, the ingredient is harmless to people, animals, plants, and the environment. Denatonium benzoate is not irritating to the eyes or skin and is not considered to be a skin sensitizer. The available data indicate that denatonium benzoate does not damage genetic material and does not represent a carcinogenic concern.
